Why We’re Standing With The Land
There’s a quiet resilience in rural Australia.
It’s in the early mornings, the long days, and the determination to keep going even when conditions turn against you. It’s in the communities that rally around each other, often without asking for anything in return.
At Pacific Gas, these are the communities we’re part of. They’re where our distributors live and work. They’re where our customers build their businesses. And for many, they’re home.
But we also know that in recent years, many of these communities have been doing it tough.
Drought. Flood. Rising costs. Uncertainty. And behind all of it are real people, real families, and real stories.
“It’s not just hay – it’s hope.”
For Pacific Gas, the decision to partner with Rural Aid wasn’t complicated. They’ve built a reputation for showing up when it matters most, like those farmers struggling with the drought that has plagued South Australia in recent years.
For fourth-generation farmer Dale Hilder, his farm in South Australia’s Flinders Ranges is more than a lifestyle – it’s home. So, when drought tightened its grip and forced them to make the difficult decision to sell off all but his breeding stock, he turned to Rural Aid for support.
“We’re really grateful to Rural Aid… The hay we received made a big difference. We couldn’t have kept feeding without it.” Dale says.
“[But] it’s not just hay – it’s hope. Knowing that someone cares, that people out there are thinking about us, means the world.”
Whether it’s delivering hay to a struggling farm, providing access to mental health support, or helping communities rebuild after natural disasters, Rural Aid’s work is practical and deeply human.
“You hear stories from farmers like Dale who’ve received support, and it’s not just about what was delivered,” says Matthew Copplestone, Pacific Gas Manager. “It’s about what it meant. Knowing someone hadn’t forgotten about them. That kind of support stays with people.”
Standing together
That’s where Stand With The Land comes in. Through this campaign, Pacific Gas is committing to donate $1 from every industrial gas cylinder sold.
It’s a simple idea, but a powerful one. Every transaction becomes part of something bigger.
“We wanted to create something that was consistent and meaningful,” says Copplestone. “Not a one-off donation or a short-term campaign, but something that grows as we grow and continues to support rural communities over time.”
It also means that every distributor, and every customer, becomes part of that impact.
“Our distributors are embedded in their local communities,” he says. “This gives them a way to say, ‘We’re in this together.’ It’s something they can stand behind.”
Together, we can all play a part in supporting farmers, their families and the communities that keep regional Australia strong.
Stand with the land.
